From the
EDITOR
Welcome to our first issue for 2023! I love this time of year; being fully
immersed in a new year full of opportunity and soaking up the last of the
summer rays. In this issue, we embark on a lifestyle cleanse and discover
how a holistic approach can do wonders for enhancing our physical and
mental health (p68). And if you’re interested in a little cosmetic improvement to help
counter the effects of the party season, on p78 we highlight the most popular surgical
and non-surgical body options for removing fat and tightening skin.
As the seasons change, it’s time to adapt our beauty and hair regimen. On p106
Ricky Allen chats with hair colourist Vincent King on how to switch up your hair
colour, and on p90 we look at the fundamentals of choosing cool- and warm-based
makeup to enhance your complexion year-round. We also share the basics of getting
your skin back on track after a hot summer with our curated list of skincare ingredient
superstars on p44.
Late last year, we had the pleasure of meeting style guru and all-round inspiration
Trinny Woodall. Catch our morning tea with her on p64 and discover how she went
on to create one of Europe’s fastest-growing beauty brands. On p74, we also honour
another visionary woman, Jo Malone, and track the journey of her bespoke perfumes
and signature “scent pairing” philosophy.
This is also one of my favourite times of the year because it’s award season! On p30
we pay homage to some of the iconic red-carpet looks of all time. Plus, we showcase this
season’s best and brightest products to hit the Aussie beauty market (p76).
We hope you enjoy this issue and are enjoying the start of a happy, healthy and
beautiful New Year!

CRASH COURSE ON THE
MOST POPULAR SKINCARE
INGREDIENTS.
A
ALGAE
Algae is known to be one of the
world’s most complete food sources
and is commonly used in skincare
to aid in the natural production of
collagen and improve elasticity,
hydration and skin tone.
synonym: Seaweed extract, kelp,
marine extracts
ALOE VERA
This polysaccharide-rich gel is one
of the oldest and most recognised
botanicals. While it’s best known
for its soothing properties and
lightweight hydration, particularly
useful for sunburn, it is also rich
in antioxidants and enzymes that
help to promote the production of
collagen and elastin.
synonym: Aloe, Aloe barbadensis
ALPHA HYDROXY
ACIDS (AHAS)
Alpha hydroxy acids (AHAs) help
loosen the “glue” between dead
skin cells and enhance exfoliation.
The most well known AHAs are
glycolic acid and lactic acid. Glycolic
acid comes from sugar cane, and
lactic acid from milk. They work
to exfoliate the skin and give a
fresher appearance, as well as
increase hydration by supporting
natural hyaluronic acid production.
Alpha hydroxy acids, at high
enough concentrations, result in
moisturisation and stimulation of
water-holding gels in the skin which
cause plumpness, firmness and
wrinkle reduction.
synonym: AHA, Lactic Acid, Citric
Acid, Tartaric Acid, Malic Acid,
Sodium Lactate, Lauryl Lactate, Cetyl
Lactate, Myristyl Lactate, Mandelic
Acid, Gluconolactone, Fruit Acid
ALPHA LIPOIC ACID
Alpha lipoic acid is an enzyme and
antioxidant that has been shown to
improve skin texture and tone, help
to reduce under-eye puffiness and
enlarged pores, and even improve
the appearance of rosacea. It may
also have anti-ageing benefits due
to its strong antioxidant benefits
that help to protect the skin from
environmental aggressors.
synonym: Thioctic Acid, ALA
AMINO ACIDS
Amino acids are the building blocks
of proteins and peptides. Depending
on their type, they can stimulate
cell activity like collagen synthesis,
transport moisture through the skin
and promote skin resilience.
synonym: Arginine, Lysine, Proline,
Valine, Tyrosine, Leucine, Glycine,
Phenylalanine, Alanine, Gamma
Amino Butyric Acid, GABA,
Glutamine, Cysteine, Acetyl
Cysteine, Carnitine, Thymidine,
Guanosine, Guanine
ANTIOXIDANTS
Antioxidants are the skin’s
bodyguards, helping protect the
skin from free radicals, which attack
healthy skin cells and collagen.
Antioxidants help mop up the
damage free radical scavengers
leave behind. Studies suggest
antioxidants in combination are
more effective on the skin than
single-ingredient formulations. Look
for products containing Vitamins
A, B3, C and E, co-enzyme Q10,
idebenone, lycopene, grapeseed
extract, papaya, green tea, rosehip
and resveratrol.
ARBUTIN
Arbutin is a plant-derived
antioxidant from bearberry, licorice,
cranberry or blueberry plants. It can
help fade hyperpigmentation by
working to diminish the production
of melanin and promote an even
skin tone.
synonym: Alpha-Arbutin, Beta-
Arbutin
ARGAN OIL
Native to the Argan tree in
Morocco, Argan Oil has been
used for centuries for its excellent
moisturising and anti-inflammatory
properties for skin and hair.
synonym: Argan, Argania spinosa
AVOCADO OIL
Avocado oil is full of fatty acids that
help to promote radiant, hydrated
skin. It has been shown to visibly
minimise the appearance of sundamaged
skin and help restore
suppleness. One study also found
it may help with wound healing and
collagen production.
synonym: Persea americana
AZELAIC ACID
Azelaic acid is derived from yeast
and provides antimicrobial, antiinflammatory
and exfoliating
properties to help improve acne and
pigmentation and even rosacea.
synonym: Nonanedioic acid
BAKUCHIOL
A plant-based retinol alternative,
Bakuchiol helps to improve the look
of lines and wrinkles without any
irritation, according to a 2019 study
published in the British Journal
of Dermatology. This ancient
botanical, which has recently made
headwaves in skincare, has antiinflammatory
and anti-microbial
properties, while helping to increase
collagen production and reduce
the look of fine lines, wrinkles and
hyperpigmentation.
synonym: Psoralea Corylifolia
Seed Oil
BETA HYDROXY ACIDS
(BHAS)
Beta hydroxy acids work to control
excess oil production and secretion
and gently exfoliate the skin’s
surface, making it a popular option
for blemish-prone and oily skin.
Unlike AHAs, these are oil-soluble,
which means they can penetrate
deeper into pores. The most
commonly known BHA is salicylic
acid. According to the FDA though,
from a chemist’s perspective,
salicylic is not a true BHA.
synonym: salicylic acid (or related
substances, such as salicylate,
sodium salicylate, and willow bark
extract), beta hydroxybutanoic acid,
tropic acid, trethocanic acid
BROMELAIN
This is a nutrient-rich extract from
pineapple enzymes, commonly
used to help bruising, swelling
and wounds. It also works as an
exfoliator to give the skin a brighter,
more glowing appearance.
synonym: Ananas comosus,
pineapple enzyme
www.cosbeauty.com.au 47
SKIN
CERAMIDES
Ceramides are a type of skin lipid
that sit in the top layer of the skin
and work to lock in essential oils
and moisture. They are essential
in maintaining both the structure
and strength of the lipid matrix.
Ceramides are a naturally occurring
skin lipid found within the cell
membrane. They are used in
skincare products as an emollient
and, because of their rich, luxurious
feel, many are used on dry, chafed
and inflamed or delicate skin.
Also look out for products
containing evening primrose oil,
jojoba, coconut, macadamia, olive,
shea butter and wheatgerm.
COENZYME Q10
CoQ10 occurs naturally in the body,
however, factors such as stress,
ageing and some medications can
lower the levels. In most people over
30, levels of CoQ10 in the skin are
below optimum, resulting in lesser
ability to produce collagen, elastin
and other important skin molecules.
CoQ10 penetrates into skin cells to
boost skin repair and regeneration
and reduce free radical damage.
synonym: Ubiquinone, CoQ10
ENZYMES
Enzymes dissolve surface skin cells
for better delivery of topical skincare
and promoting the look of glowing,
fresh skin. Papaya, pineapple
and pumpkin are the three most
common sources of enzyme in
skincare.
synonym: Papaya, Papain,
Pineapple, Bromelain, Pumpkin,
Cucurbita Pepo
FERULIC ACID
Ferulic acid is an antioxidant from
the cell wall of plants and has been
shown to help combat skin ageing
by helping to protect future free
radical damage and repairing
existing free radical damage. It is
particularly effective combined with
Vitamins C and E to increase efficacy
and enhance stability.
synonym: ferulate, hydroxycinnamic
acid
GLYCOLIC ACID
(see AHAs)
HYALURONIC ACID
Found naturally in the body,
hyaluronic acid is what gives skin its
volume and fullness. One of its many
claims to fame is that it can hold up
to 1,000 times its weight in water.
Because of its ability to “latch” onto
huge numbers of water molecules
and bring them into the cells of
the skin, it is an extremely effective
hydrator and skin plumper.
synonym: sodium hyaluronate,
hyaluronan
JOJOBA OIL
From jojoba plant seeds, jojoba
oil mimics the skin’s natural oils
and thereby works synergistically
with the natural lipids in the skin to
provide lightweight, well-tolerated
hydration.
synonym: Simmondsia chinensis,
Isopropyl Jojobate
KOJIC ACID
This compound is a byproduct
from fermented rice in sake
and is commonly used to treat
pigmentation as it helps inhibit the
production of tyrosinase to combat
excess melanin.
synonym: Kojic Acid Dipalmitate
L-ASCORBIC ACID
(see Vitamin C)
LACTIC ACID

MANUKA HONEY
Native to New Zealand, manuka
honey contains natural antibacterial,
antifungal and healing benefits,
making it suitable for use in skincare
that targets redness, inflammation
and blemish-prone skin.
synonym: Leptospermum
scoparium, kāhikato
PEPTIDES
Peptides are small molecules of
at least two or more amino acids
chemically linked together. When
certain amino acids are combined,
they create specific peptides (the
different combinations are virtually
limitless). Acting as chemical
messengers, peptides communicate
with cells to activate their target.
Peptides have a variety of functions,
primarily they help to stimulate
collagen, combat what is known
as Advanced Glycation End (AGE)
product formation, which is a
metabolic process that damages
collagen in the body, and reduce
pigmentation.
synonym: pentapeptides,
hexapeptides, palmitoyl
oligopeptide, palmitoyl
tetrapeptide, copper peptides
RESVERATROL
Primarily found in red wine,
resveratrol has been shown to have
antioxidant, antimicrobial and antiinflammatory
properties, making
it a “jack of all trades” in skincare
products.
ROSEHIP OIL
Produced from the seeds of the rose
bush, rosehip oil is rich in fatty acids
and Vitamins A and C. Its soothing,
hydrating and anti-inflammatory
properties helps to smooth and
brighten skin and improve the look
of stretch marks and scars.
SALICYLIC ACID
(see BHAs)
SEAWEED
(see Algae)
TITANIUM DIOXIDE
This is a mineral commonly used
as a physical sunscreen for both
UVA and UVB – meaning that it
works by sitting on top of the
skin to block damaging UV rays.
It can also be used as a base for
pigments, particularly in foundation
and powders, and can be used as a
thickener.
VITAMIN A
Vitamin A is often touted as the
most effective topical ingredient to
prevent, restore, normalise and help
repair damaged skin. Since our body
does not make Vitamin A, our skin
becomes deficient over time.
Arguably the most potent
topical derivative of Vitamin A
is retinol (retinoic acid), which is
widely regarded as the anti-ageing
solution. Retinol encourages
better cell function and turnover
to improve skin texture, increase
collagen production to address
fine lines, inhibit the enzyme
tyrosinase to address excess and
abnormal melanin production
(hyperpigmentation), and regulate
oil production to improve acne.

Z
VITAMIN B3
Vitamin B3 takes its place alongside
skincare veterans Vitamins A and C.
It increases ceramide production
to boost natural hydration levels and
skin luminosity; helps prevent the
transfer of melanin from melanocyte
to keratinocyte and thereby
reducing hyperpigmentation;
increases the natural immunity
of the skin to defend against
environmental stress; and reduces
excess oil production. Niacinamide,
the physiologically active form of
Vitamin B3, is part of the Vitamin B
group and is water soluble. Used
in anti-ageing products, studies
have shown it stimulates collagen
synthesis and fatty acid levels in skin.
synonym: Nicotinamide, Nicotinic
Acid Amide, Myristyl Nicotinate
VITAMIN B5
Vitamin B5 helps to hydrate and
retain moisture in the skin, calm
irritation and promote skin healing.
It helps to strengthen the skin’s
barrier and promote increased
elasticity.
synonym: pantothenic acid
VITAMIN C
As L-ascorbic acid – the form of
Vitamin C that the majority of
medical papers refer to as being
most active on human skin cells
– Vitamin C works to increase
collagen production to reduce fine
lines and minimise scarring and
is a potent anti-inflammatory. It is
an antioxidant found naturally in
the skin, which works with other
antioxidants to prevent free radical
damage.
synonym: Calcium Acerbate,
Ascorbyl Palmitate, Vitamin C
Palmitate, Sodium Ascorbate,
Aminopropyl Ascorbyl Phosphate,
Tetrahexyldecyl Ascorbate,
Ascorbyl Tetraisopalmitate,
Sodium Ascorbyl Phosphate,
Calcium Ascorbate, Ascorbyl
Tetraisopalmitate, vitamin c ester,
Ascorbyl glucoside, ascorbic acid
VITAMIN E
Vitamin E is an antioxidant with
anti-inflammatory and moisturising
properties. It can also help
prevent free radical damage as
well as improve skin softness and
smoothness, help prevent skin
discolouration and keep breakouts
at bay.
synonym: tocopheryl acetate,
tocopherol acetate, or vitamin E
acetate
VITAMIN K
Topical Vitamin K is often used to
help redness, particularly in dark
circle eye treatment formulations or
for post-procedure bruising. Vitamin
K’s main function is blood clotting
and tissue healing.
synonym: phytonadione
ZINC OXIDE
The single most important antiageing
product is not a vitamin at
all, but a mineral. Given that sun
damage is the fundamental basis of
environmental ageing, zinc oxide
used in a broad-spectrum sunblock
should be your number-one skincare
ingredient, protecting you against
the harmful rays from the sun.

Pauline Valle is one of Australia’s skincare industry

With decades of experience in both the medical and

TRINNY
WOODALL
TRINNY WOODALL, THE INSPIRING FOUNDER AND
CEO OF TRINNY LONDON, SPILLS THE TEA TO
RICKY ALLEN ON CREATING A BEAUTY EMPIRE.
Trinny Woodall burst into our lives in 2001
with the highly successful UK television series
What Not to Wear and instantly became a
fan favourite with her authentic and straight-talking
style advice. Even Oprah became a Trinny admirer,
inviting her as a guest on The Oprah Winfrey Show on
multiple occasions.
While What Not to Wear, co-hosted with Susannah
Constantine, went from strength to strength, Trinny
even managed to co-write 12 books, which fast
became the go-to bibles for style.
Following the end of the television series, Trinny
pivoted her brand (and first-hand knowledge) from
fashion into beauty and, after years of research,
launched makeup line Trinny London in 2017 and
Trinny London Skincare in 2022.
Known for her (sometimes brutal) honest advice,
Trinny founded her makeup brand with the sole
purpose of giving everyone the tools they need to
feel their best. Banishing overflowing makeup bags
for good, she introduced a streamlined solution
called the stack: cream-based, multi-tasking pots that
click seamlessly together. After that, it seemed only
logical Trinny London would take on the world of
skincare with a game-changing skincare collection.
I was lucky enough to sit down with Trinny when
she visited Australia recently. Of course, I was nervous
that she was going to critique my wardrobe, but she
was much more interested in getting to know me
and went to great lengths to make me feel like we
were just friends having morning tea together. In fact,
she was one of the nicest, most knowledgeable and
most switched-on people I have ever interviewed.
Her depth of knowledge about skin and the aesthetic
needs and wants of women was impressive.
During the interview, Trinny offered to apply my
makeup for me using her Trinny London makeup
I WAS NERVOUS THAT SHE
WAS GOING TO CRITIQUE MY
WARDROBE, BUT SHE WAS
MUCH MORE INTERESTED IN
GETTING TO KNOW ME.

products. As mentioned above, these come in very practical
stackable containers which have fast become a traveller’s
dream. The colours are beautiful, a blend of on-trend hues
as well as the good old staples which many other brands
discard seasonally. The range is not huge; rather, it includes
only the products that we really need.
I declined her kind offer as I was much more interested
in just chatting to her. She did go through her personal
makeup selection, though. I am outlining them here so if
you want to look like Trinny try: Eye2Eye in Fortune, Sheer
Shimmer in Dido, Lip to Cheek in Milly, Eye to Eye in Lovers,
Eye to Eye in Choice, Lip Love in Sacha, Lip Luxe in Eugenie
and Lip Luxe in Swainy.
I asked Trinny why she launched a makeup collection
before her skincare range. She was quick to answer that
bringing out makeup first gave her the opportunity to
continue researching skincare ingredients and assessing
what women really want from their skincare.
I feel that everything Trinny does in business is very
researched and meticulously planned. Her newly launched
skincare range was a real journey of love for her, borne out
of her suffering from acne both as a teenager and adult.
Trinny wants to make sure she does her bit to ensure the
users of her Trinny London skincare never have to worry
about bad skin.
In true Trinny style all the skincare products in the
range have empowering names, such as Energise Me, a
niacinamide moisturizer, Be Your Best, an enzyme balm
cleanser, and Boost Up, a 30% Vitamin C serum.
Trinny said she often changes her skincare regime
based on her skin’s actual needs, which vary greatly,
especially as she travels extensively. She asked me to fill
out a questionnaire so she could prescribe the skincare
for my regime. Unfortunately, I had forgotten my glasses
so Trinny painstakingly read through the questionnaire
with me to ensure I was only given the right products for
my skin’s needs. That showed to me exactly why women
all around the world can relate to and love Trinny
Woodall. My Trinny London Skincare now has pride
of place in my bathroom, personally picked by Trinny
herself and is working wonders on my skin.
Trinny believes in giving back, and her passion for
business and entrepreneurship can be seen through her
support of other start-up founders through mentoring
and the Elevator Pitch series on her Instagram, where
female entrepreneurs are invited to pitch their business
ideas to a wide audience.
In just five years,Trinny London has become one of
the world’s fastest-growing beauty brands. And I have a
feeling she’s just getting started. CBM

Lifestyle
cleanse
A POST-SUMMER DETOX DOESN’T HAVE
TO INVOLVE PEA-SIZED PORTIONS AND
DRILL SERGEANT FITNESS ROUTINES. A
HOLISTIC APPROACH TO CLEANSING
YOUR LIFESTYLE CAN DO WONDERS
FOR ENHANCING YOUR PHYSICAL AND
MENTAL HEALTH.
The damage we do to
our bodies during the
festive season seems to
get all the publicity for
post-season detox solutions. Amid
holiday celebrations, parties and
not-so-occasional late-night
kebabs, our health is crying out
for some TLC.
But if you’re finding your festivities
trickle on for months after this binge
siege, you’re not alone. It’s hard
for everyone to let go of living life
to the lax, especially coming out
of the COVID restrictions from the
past couple of years. But a routine
of carbalicious meals, calorieladen
cocktails and late nights is
not only bad for your health but
it also starts to manifest itself in
breakouts, weight gain, weak hair,
dry skin, wrinkles, tiredness and
all-round energy depletion. If you
haven’t already learned that beauty
radiates from the inside out when
it comes to looking after yourself, it
becomes painfully clear once these
manifestations start blocking your
daily glow.
How do you rise out of this rut?
Small steps are the key. You don’t
need to become an overnight
vegan gym-bunny to make positive
changes to your lifestyle and
appearance, but taking a holistic
approach to your routine can do a
lot for looking and feeling refreshed,
relaxed and a little more zen.

The
mind-body
connection
Paul Taylor, founder of the
MindBodyBrain Performance Institute,
says the brain is a powerful tool in
making lifestyle changes. ‘Staying in
shape is just as much about focusing
on the brain as it is about exercising
and eating well,’ he says. ‘The brain
controls everything the body does but
is reliant on the health of the body’s
optimal function.’
While for some people motivation
comes naturally and is a powerful
instrument, it is often relied upon as the
sole catalyst for change. ‘Motivation is
completely controlled by the brain and is
dependent on the chemical dopamine.
The biggest mistake people make when
trying to get into shape is that they rely
on motivation, which waxes and wanes.
The real key is to create a new habit,
and the key to this, as far as the brain is
concerned, is to develop rituals.
‘When we repeat something enough,
it becomes a habit. The reason it does
so is because the neural wiring for this
activity moves to a part of the brain
called the basal ganglia, which is where
our habits are stored – simply put, the
brain loves routine.’
So, funnily enough, you actually have
the power to trick yourself into living
well. Injecting a space in between
leaving work and arriving home to do
a 25-minute jog on the treadmill, or
replacing a mid-morning pastry with a
green tea, can go a long way in achieving
long-term life balance.
Superfoods
are real
We all essentially know what we shouldn’t be eating but what about
the foods that make up the ‘should’? We’re constantly bombarded with
new information about nutrients, antioxidants and vitamins, with some
categorised as essential and some as elite. ‘Superfoods’ are in the latter
group and are characterised by their high content of vitamins, minerals,
fibre, antioxidants and essential fatty acids.
The speculation about whether the term ‘superfood’ represents a
microcosm of healthfood marketing ploys has been the subject of many
inquiries, with frequent reports about the dramatically higher sales of
blueberries since being painted with the superfood brush.
Blueberries, along with salmon and other omega-rich fatty fish,
soy products, grains, tea and dark chocolate are the top choices for
superfoods. They boast effects such as lower levels of cholesterol and
blood sugar, lower risk of heart disease and cancer, as well as a decrease
in inflammation – one of the key culprits in the ageing process.
While they are often associated with extreme diets and fad detox
plans, you don’t have to survive on these foods alone to experience their
benefits. Working these foods into each meal, one at a time, will add
variety to your diet and can slowly evolve into exploring new ways to
enjoy food.
Experts advise that adding half a cup of blueberries to your morning
cereal is a healthy start. As a general rule, the more colour the fruit
or vegetable has, the richer it is in antioxidants. Integrate spinach,
pumpkin, beetroot and capsicum into your weekly dinner cycle.

When
we go zen
Meditating can be an extremely beneficial way to decrease
stress, clear your mind and help maintain an emphasis on
what’s important to you. Part of feeling good about yourself
and leading a balanced lifestyle is honing your personal goals
and putting a name to the qualities you like about yourself
(and no, this doesn’t have to involve reciting affirmations to
yourself in front of the mirror every morning).
Defining what actually classifies an act as ‘meditation’
is difficult, particularly because there are so many varying
techniques and cultures from which the skill has evolved. At
its core, meditation has been described as a state of bare
attention, or a focused yet relaxed state of mind.
Simply sitting quietly and concentrating on the action of
breathing can achieve this, as well as walking in the park – the
point is to de-clutter your mind and overcome internal chatter.
Research has shown that meditation activates the
autonomic nervous system, which is responsible for
involuntary functions such as digestion and blood pressure,
often negatively affected by stress. It makes sense that when
stress is eased, stress-related health problems are lessened
and general wellbeing is enhanced. Take half an hour for
some ‘you time’ to promote calmness – it’s a simple and
effective way to integrate meditation into your routine.
So, given the definition of meditation remains somewhat
murky, how do you know if you’re doing it right? The answer
across the board is that if you feel better than you did before
you began, you’re doing it correctly!
A daily fitness routine can act as a form of meditation as
it requires a certain level of concentration and can create a
sense of freedom in the mind. Experts say modern versions of
meditation are just as effective as their ancient counterparts
because the techniques have been adapted to suit modernday
lifestyles and associated stresses.
Simply put, when it comes to reintegrating a sense of the
holistic into your lifestyle and radiating from within, slowly
introducing realistic and achievable goals into your day-today
is the key. CBM

RICKY ALLEN DELVES INTO THE ART OF
FRAGRANCE LAYERING AND SCENT
PAIRING FOR A TRULY BESPOKE PERFUME.
In an era finally championing diversity and
individuality, no one wants to look the same. And we
don’t want to smell the same, either.
Jo Malone, British perfumer and founder of
Jo Malone London, was ahead of her time in this area.
As far back as 1994, the company was rewriting the
rules of perfume and developing the concept of
bespoke fragrances with their unexpected
combinations of scents.
Of course, Malone realised that it was too difficult to
have each Jo Malone London store creating bespoke
scents for every client who came in. The solution?
Fragrance layering. The company trademarked the
term “scent pairing” (apparently “layering” cannot
be trademarked), which enabled women and men to
mix and match their favourite scents according to their
mood and occasion.
Scent pairing became the essence of the Jo Malone
London philosophy. Each scent is crafted with the concept
of layering in mind, and are designed to be worn alone
or paired with another Jo Malone scent to help you find a
combination that is uniquely yours.
Jo Malone London fragrances are renowned for the
purity of their ingredients. While it’s not uncommon for
traditional fragrances to have hundreds of ingredients,
Jo Malone fragrances tend to have far fewer – this
cleanness and clarity also enables them to be paired
without being overbearing.
In-store, specially trained Jo Malone stylists are on hand
to guide you in the art of fragrance pairing and selecting
the fragrances that suit you and your body chemistry best,
as well as suggested pairings to go from day to evening, for
example. There are also discovery tables in-store that have
“tasting” note cards to give suggestions for scent pairings
if you choose to have a play and discover new scents for
yourself.
Similarly, on their e-commerce site, jomalone.com.au,
under each fragrance there are suggestions for creating
the perfect pairing, depending on whether you’re after
something warmer or fresher.
A wonderful extra service offered by Jo Malone London
outlets is a wedding stylist, who will guide the bride and
groom on the perfect scent pairing to wear for the big day,
as well as a signature fragrance for the venue.
‘Jo Malone London fragrances are generally based on
two key ingredients, making them ideal for scent pairing,’
says Clayton Ilolahia, Evaluation and Communications
Manager of Fragrances of the World, an independent
body under the direction of legendary perfume expert
Michael Edwards.
‘Jo Malone London has perfected the concept of a
“fragrance wardrobe”,’ he continues. ‘Customers are
becoming more educated about fragrance and therefore
their confidence has increased. We see many social media
posts by everyday women sharing their favourite scent
pairing combos, sometimes discovering them by trial
and error.’
When trademarking their scent pairing concept in 1994,
we wonder if Jo Malone London could see that the art of
creating a signature scent would become so much part of
today’s fragrance scene. CBM

Abdominoplasty
(TUMMY TUCK)
A tummy tuck (abdominoplasty) removes excess skin and
fat from the abdomen and is performed under general
anaesthetic.
The procedure suits those with problems such as
excessive skin laxity (looseness), excess fat and laxity
of the abdominal wall muscles, often resulting in the
skin flapping downwards. Typical patients have often
experienced extreme weight loss or pregnancy and wish
to create a more svelte looking abdominal area. It is often
performed in combination with liposuction.
During the abdominoplasty procedure, skin and fat
are removed from the stomach area and the abdominal
muscles are repaired, tackling a number of conditions
at once. While liposuction is used only to remove fat,
an abdominoplasty can flatten the stomach area by
tightening the muscles as well as recapturing a more
hourglass figure.
An incision is made across the lower abdomen, above
the pubic bone, and is positioned in such a way as to
be invisible under swimwear and underwear. A circular
incision is then made around the navel and the skin is
then separated from the muscle, working up toward the
ribs, stitching the muscles together then tightens the
stomach. Excess skin is removed, and a new opening is
made for the belly button.
Patients usually take around three weeks off work.
Results are a flatter stomach with repaired abdominal
muscles and removal of excess skin. A scar is created
across the lower abdomen, which can be hidden within
the bikini line, and minimised with various scar therapies.
TYPICAL PATIENTS HAVE OFTEN EXPERIENCED
EXTREME WEIGHT LOSS OR PREGNANCY AND WISH TO
CREATE A MORE SVELTE LOOKING ABDOMINAL AREA.
Brachioplasty
(ARM LIFT)
Brachioplasty, also known as an arm lift, reshapes
the underside of the upper arm from the armpit
to the elbow, and involves the surgical removal
of excess loose skin and fat from saggy underarm
areas, sometimes referred to as “bingo wings”.
As well as the surgical excision of loose skin,
the procedure may also incorporate liposuction
to remove excess fat. Performed under general
anaesthetic, the procedure may require an
overnight stay in hospital but patients are often
allowed to go home on the same day.
Results include improved appearance of the
upper arm, with more definition and no flapping
skin. Most people can resume normal activities
around two weeks after surgery. A scar will be
visible, typically running along the inside of the
arm from the armpit to the elbow; however, scar
management techniques and products can help
minimise the appearance.

Breast lift
(MASTOPEXY)
A breast augmentation can return shape to a
flattened, sagging breast, but it is commonly
combined with mastopexy (breast lift surgery)
to raise the breasts to a more youthful
position. In other patients, a breast reduction
may be more suitable following weight loss,
and again this is usually combined with a
mastopexy to achieve the best results.
For a small lift, the peri-areola mastopexy
is commonly used, with an incision made
around the nipple. The nipple is elevated
and the skin envelope is moved so the
nipple sits higher on the breast mound.
For a larger lift, the anchor-incision
technique may be used. It involves an
incision being made around the nipple
and vertically down, with another incision
horizontally under the breast. Another
common breast lift method is the shorter
scar LeJour technique. In both cases, the
excess skin is removed and the nipple
placed higher.
Results include rounder, fuller breasts
with higher projection and repositioned to
a more youthful and attractive position. A
mastopexy can help reduce the appearance
of back rolls, or sagging skin on the sides
and back of a weight-loss patient. Initial
recovery takes around five to seven days
and resulting scars should fade over time.
RESULTS INCLUDE ROUNDER, FULLER
BREASTS WITH HIGHER PROJECTION AND
REPOSITIONED TO A MORE YOUTHFUL
AND ATTRACTIVE POSITION.
Breast reduction
(REDUCTION MAMMOPLASTY)
Breast reduction (or reduction mammoplasty) is a surgical
procedure that reduces, lifts and reshapes the breast. It is
used to remove excess breast fat, glandular tissue and skin
to achieve a breast size in proportion with your body. The
procedure is designed to alleviate the discomfort associated
with overly large breasts.
The operation seeks to relieve symptoms and pains
caused by very large breasts. Overly large breasts can cause
health issues and emotional problems for some women. In
addition to self-image issues, it can also cause physical pain
and discomfort. This includes back pain, neck pain, breast
tenderness, shoulder grooving (from bra straps), intertrigo
(rash between folds of skin), and overall breast discomfort.
Many breast reduction surgery procedures usually call
for just one vertical incision around the areola down to the
breast crease, and in some cases along the crease as well. A
portion of fat and excess tissue is then removed. The nipple
and areola are then pertly repositioned and the skin under
the breast is re-sculpted. This results in smaller breasts that
have a more aesthetically pleasing shape and improved
support, lift and overall fullness.
Breast reduction surgery is performed under a general
anaesthetic, with a recuperation period of around three
weeks. Scars are an inevitable part of any invasive surgery.
The resulting scar can usually be seen from around the
nipple down to the breast crease in a vertical line, and may
fade over 12 – 18 months after the procedure. This scar
generally takes longer than other types of scarring to settle.

Liposuction
Liposuction is a surgical procedure performed
under anaesthetic to remove deposits of fat
from specific areas of the body. It can be
performed almost anywhere on the body where
there are pockets of fat, including the neck,
arms, stomach, back, chest, buttocks, thighs
and ankles.
It is usually performed as day surgery,
although some cases may warrant an overnight
hospital stay.
Generally, the area to be treated with
liposuction is infiltrated with a tumescent
fluid containing local anaesthetic and a vasoconstrictor
before small cannulas are used to
vacuum out the fat. Alternatively, a syringe can
be used to withdraw the fat.
Power-assisted liposuction, where
radiofrequency, ultrasound or laser technology
is used to improve liposuction results, can help
increase skin contracture and tone and tighten
the skin’s surface. These types of techniques
are also typically less aggressive.
The ideal liposuction patient is at or near
their ideal body weight (within 30 per cent), has
good skin elasticity and is seeking reduction of
diet-resistant localised pockets of fat. They also
need to understand the risks of surgery and
have realistic expectations that liposuction is
not a way of losing masses of weight or a cure
for obesity.
Bruising can last for a few weeks and swelling
for around one to two months. A compression
garment is usually worn for about four to six
weeks in most cases. Patients can usually return
to work after around three to seven days. Final
results – a trimmer-looking, more proportionate
and shapely form – can be seen from six
months to a year as swelling subsides. Results
are long lasting provided the patient maintains
a similar weight.
Thigh lift
A thigh lift is a surgical procedure performed
under general anaesthetic to remove excess
skin and fatty tissue, typically in patients
who’ve lost considerable amounts of weight.
A thigh lift can be combined with liposuction
for a smoother result. During the procedure,
an incision is made in the upper inner thigh
– in some cases this may extend to the groin
line or buttock fold – and excess fat and
tissue is removed via this incision.
Results include improved contour
of the upper leg, with tauter skin and
more defined musculature. Normal daily
activities can usually be resumed, and are
encouraged for circulation, within several
days following surgery.
A THIGH LIFT CAN
BE COMBINED
WITH LIPOSUCTION
FOR A SMOOTHER
RESULT.

COSMETIC ENHANCEMENT
Non-surgical
fat reduction
Non-surgical body contouring procedures use medical-grade
energy-based devices to dissolve fat and/or tighten skin. The
energy is emitted via an applicator through the skin without
damaging the outer layers, only targeting the underlying fat
and tissues.
Targeted fat cells are destroyed and excreted naturally via
the body’s lymphatic system over a period of several weeks.
Most devices require a series of treatments spaced several
weeks apart for optimum results. Fat reduction treatments
can reduce fat in the targeted area by as much as 20%.
Although non-surgical body contouring devices offer
an effective means for achieving a more streamlined body
shape – commonly targeting treatment areas such as the
abdomen and thighs – it’s worth remembering that no
non-surgical device can achieve the level of fat removal
possible with liposuction. It’s therefore important to have
realistic expectations of what non-surgical body contouring
can achieve, both in terms of the amount of fat that can be
targeted, and the length of time it will take to see results.
The best candidates are usually those with small to
medium localised fat deposits that are resistant to diet
and exercise, rather than those seeking large-volume fat
removal. For muscle building and toning treatment, just
about anyone is a suitable candidate.
Today’s most popular energy systems use fat-freezing
technology (cryolipolysis treaments), radiofrequency, latestgeneration
microwave energy and laser technologies.
CRYOLIPOYLSIS (NON-SURGICAL BODY
CONTOURING, INCLUDING CLATUU,
COOLSCULPTING, COOLTECH)
This method uses almost-freezing temperatures to kill fat cells
without traumatising the surrounding tissues or harming the
skin. A gel drape is placed onto the target area to protect the
skin before the applicator head is placed onto the fat pocket,
where it remains for approximately one hour. The applicator
acts like a vacuum to suck the area into position and direct the
cold temperature to the target fat cells under the skin, which
are then destroyed and eliminated naturally by the body.
RADIOFREQUENCY ENERGY
(BODYTITE, TRUSCULPT ID)
This non-surgical treatment uses radiofrequency (RF) energy to
reduce pockets of fat. The energy is emitted via an applicator
through the skin without damaging the outer layers, only
targeting the underlying fat and tissues.
With RF body contouring treatment, the heat generated
from the RF energy dissolves fat cells and causes microscopic
changes to tissues and collagen fibres, with further collagen
remodelling occurring over the subsequent months following
the procedure. The broken down fat cells are drained via the
lymphatic system and then excreted as urine. An added bonus
is that it can also improve skin tone and the look of cellulite.
The full effects may not be visible for several months as
the improvements are cumulative. You will gradually notice
changes such as circumferential reduction of the treated area,
a reduction in cellulite and a more streamlined body shape.
Radiofrequency body contouring treatments are non-invasive,
cause minimal discomfort and typically require no downtime.
MICROWAVE ENERGY
(ONDA COOLWAVES)
ONDA Coolwaves by Deka is the first device to use smart
microwave technology for body contouring applications including
localised fat deposits, cellulite and skin tightening. Its propriety
Coolwaves technology targets deeper layers, while keeping the
skin cool and comfortable. It treats fat pockets, cellulite and skin
laxity at the same time.
There is no other device that emits microwaves in the same
way as the Onda system’s smart handpieces. Microwaves are
absorbed by molecules in the target tissue, which causies
them to oscillate and heat up. The Onda handpieces generate
microwaves at 2.45GHz, a frequency that is preferentially
absorbed by fat molecules rather than by water molecules. The
epidermis and the dermis of the skin contain a high percentage
of water but little fat.
Therefore, when the Coolwaves penetrate the skin, they pass
straight through the top layers without depositing excessive
heat (about 20% of the thermal effect from the microwaves).
The majority of the Coolwaves energy affects the subcutaneous
fat, which is heated far more rapidly that the skin (about 80% of
the thermal effect).
LASER TECHNOLOGY (SCULPSURE)
Non-invasive fat reduction using hyperthermic laser uses heat to
destroy the fat cells and can work wonders on the love handles and
abdomen.
It uses a specific laser wavelength to target and destroy fat
cells below the dermis. Multiple areas can be treated at once in
just 25 minutes, and all skin types are suitable. The controlled
hyperthermic laser induces fat cell injury by raising fat temperature
to a range of 42 to 47˚C – the ideal temperature to eliminate fat
cells, without damage to surrounding tissue.
There is no downtime and minimal, if any, discomfort. Results
can be seen around six weeks after treatment as the body
naturally metabolises the destroyed fat. A series of treatments
is typically recommended for optimum results.

MUSCLE BUILDING, TONING AND SCULPTING DEVICES ARE
AN EXCITING NEW ADDITION TO THE NON-SURGICAL BODY
CONTOURING MARKET AND QUICKLY RISING IN POPULARITY.
Muscle sculpting
& body toning
Even the most disciplined gym-goer will typically have
little pockets of fat they just can’t budge or areas on the
body lacking in definition, despite repeated weights
and workouts. With the latest advancements in body
contouring technology, there are options out there to
remove fat and sculpt muscle without lifting a finger.
Muscle building, toning and sculpting devices are
an exciting new addition to the non-surgical body
contouring market and quickly rising in popularity.
Most use electromagnetic stimulation to strengthen
and tighten the abdominal, gluteal and thigh muscles
through methods of contraction and stimulation
(called supramaximal contractions) – delivering tens
of thousands of muscle contractions in a 30-minute
session (obviously not physically possible during
normal exercise).
During muscle toning treatment, applicators
are placed on areas of the body and generate an
electromagnetic field that stimulates the motor neuron
cells of the body’s muscles, causing the muscle to
contract as it would during movement or exercise.
When exposed to supramaximal contractions, the
muscle responds with a deep remodelling of its inner
structure, resulting in the growth of myofibrils (muscle
hypertrophy) and creation of new protein strands and
muscle fibers (muscle hyperplasia). Increased muscle
density and volume lead to a better definition and
muscle tone.
Some muscle building devices have shown a 16%
average increase in muscle mass, and even a reduction
in reduction in Diastasis recti (abdominal separation
caused by pregnancy).
A series of treatments is usually recommended
with results seen 3-4 weeks after completion of the
treatment plan.
Muscle building and toning devices currently
available in Australia include EmSculpt by BTL,
teslaFORMER and truSculpt FLEX. CBM

DO YOU KNOW THE COLOURS
THAT LOOK BEST ON YOU? HERE’S
HOW TO CHOOSE MAKEUP FOR
YOUR SKIN TONE.
Wearing certain colours
can make or break your
makeup. The right ones
will flatter and energise
your appearance; the
wrong ones can make you look sallow
and tired.
When it comes to choosing new makeup,
matching shades to suit your skin tone can
be a tricky business. Broadly speaking,
cool-toned people have pink, red or bluish
undertones and warm-toned people have
yellow, peachy or golden undertones.
Whether your skin is light, dark or anything
in between, taking note of your skin’s
“temperature” can help you choose the
most flattering makeup for your face.
Are you warm or cool? Hold a white piece
of paper to your face in front of a mirror. If
your skin looks yellowish or greenish then
you likely have a warm skin tone. If your skin
looks pink, rosy or blue, you have a cool
skin tone. If your skin looks grey or ashen,
you are a neutral skin tone.
Still in doubt? Check your veins! The
veins on the inside of your wrist are typically
the giveaway to what skin tone you are. If
they look blue or purple, you’re more likely
to have cool undertones. If the veins look
green, you have warm-toned skin. Neutral
tones will be somewhere in the middle.

undertone, including brown, tan, green, teal, gold, burntorange
and warm red. If you suit cooler colours, stock up on
pinks, purples, lilacs, grey, burgundy, blacks and blues. When
it comes to metallics, warm-coloured skin generally suits golds
and cooler tones suit silver.
A good combination for warm skins is foundation with a
yellow base and cheeks/lips in bronze, coral or peach. Cool
skin benefits from a pink-based foundation and cheeks/lips

month after its March 1 launch in 2022,
MAC Cosmetics’ MacStack mascara went
viral on TikTok after being featured by
beauty mega-influencers including
Mikayla Nogueira, Meredith Duxbury and
Patrick Starrr.
The mascara’s hashtag received over
73 million views within the first three weeks
of its launch and at time of writing is at
268 million views. Its TikTok virality resulted
in real-world sales, making it the numberone
mascara at Ulta Beauty in the US. It was
later listed in Estée Lauder Companies’ fiscal
third-quarter financial report as a star product
helping to drive the conglomerate’s makeup
sales comeback.
According to the company, MacStack’s
main point of difference is that while many
mascaras clump after a number of coats, the
MACStack formula does not, no matter how
many layers you use.

GLAZED DONUT NAILS
Hailey Bieber, one of the most popular celebrity makeup
inspirations of 2022, helped popularise the trend of slightly
pearlescent, sparkly nude nails that glisten like a delicious Krispy
Kreme donut. The glazed donut manicure was first seen on Hailey
at the 2022 Met Gala. The nail artist behind the scrumptious look,
Zola Ganzorigt, later shared a tutorial revealing the products
she used. Her secret to creating the glazed effect? OPI Chrome
Effects Powder in Tin Can Man.

LAMINATED BROWS
Last year was a moment for “soap
brows” and this year it’s all about
laminated brows. Brow lamination is
the latest beauty trend and a service
increasingly popping up on salon
menus. The technique uses chemicals
to semi-permanently set the eyebrows
in an upright position, similar to a lash
lift for your eyelashes. But, of course,
some clever TikTokers such as Leila
Nikea have shared how to get the look
without investing in a salon visit.
HEATLESS CURLS
Heatless curls are all over your
feed. In fact, there are over two
billion videos using the hashtag
#heatlesscurls. This modern
spin on the OG hair roller has
people wrapping their hair
around pretty much anything
they can find laying around at
home – leggings, scrunchies,
even socks and chopsticks!

CRYING MAKEUP TREND
In 2022, it seems sad was more than a feeling, it
was an identity. The whole “fresh sob” look came
to our attention courtesy of content creator Zoe
Kim Kenealy, whose TikTok on ‘crying makeup’ has
amassed over 4.4 million views for that one video.
MILK FROTHER FOUNDATION
Whipping up your foundation with a milk frother
may sound like a bit of a stretch, but TikTokers are
literally frothing with excitement over this new hack.
All you need is water, foundation and your trusty milk
frother, aerating the mixture until it has a mousse-like
consistency. The result, according to foundationfrothing
founder Avonna Sunshine, is a natural,
weightess feel with slightly lighter coverage. CBM

RICKY ALLEN CHATS TO LEADING
HAIR COLOURIST VINCENT
NOBILE ABOUT THE EVOLVING
WORLD OF HAIR COLOUR.
There’s a strong connection between looking
and feeling good, and your hair is an important
aspect of this. We feel more confident and
attractive when we have a “good hair day” versus
a bad one. Styled, well-kept hair can even give us a sense
of control.
As far as choosing the hair colour to best enhance your
appearance, look to the experts. Hair colour king Vincent
Noble from Headcase Hair in Darlinghurst, Sydney, feels
strongly that the wrong colour can have a negative effect
on a person’s appearance and self-esteem. ‘You should
never blindly follow hair colour trends; instead, modify
them to suit your skin tone and age,’ he says.
It’s a real treat to see Vincent in action, mixing bespoke
colours for each client to perfectly complement their skin
tone, lifestyle and personality. No two clients walk out with
exactly the same hair colour; he says a woman’s hair colour
should be as individual as she is.

ADAPT WITH THE SEASONS
Vincent recommends altering your hair colour
slightly from summer to winter to match the changes
your skin tone.
As for the seasons of time, if you choose to
embrace the grey, he recommends using glosses
and semi-permanent highlighters to make the grey
glimmer and shine and enhance your complexion.
Speaking of glosses, these have become popular
recently as they can be used alone or with some
colour mixed in to bring more shine and vitality
to the ends of your hair. They are like the top coat
applied over your favourite nail polish.
For this summer, browns are muted with some
fawny blonde threads, giving a sun-kissed vibe.
‘For blondes, a sprinkling of coppery or hazelnut
tones through blonde hair will give a really soft glow
around the face,’ says Vincent. ‘Redheads will have
a variety of reds and blondes mixed in to give a sunkissed
and exciting look.’
Maintaining glossy, healthy hair can be challenging
if you colour your hair regularly. In addition to using
a finishing gloss, Vincent makes sure his clients leave
the salon with the appropriate at-home shampoo,
conditioner and mask to protect hair and extend the
vibrancy and lustre of coloured hair. CBM

WORKOUTS
TAKE YOUR NEXT HIIT
SESSION TO THE POOL
AND WORK OUT SMARTER,
NOT HARDER. WORDS BY
SHONAGH WALKER.
HIIT workouts have long been proven as one
of the most effective ways to improve cardio
fitness, muscle tone, and overall health and
wellbeing. The advantages of these shorter,
higher intensity workouts are myriad when compared to
longer land workouts, according to a study by the World
Journal of Cardiology.
The study found that ‘for general health and primary
and secondary cardiovascular prevention, high-intensity
interval training (HIIT) has been recognised as an
efficient exercise protocol with short exercise sessions.’
Furthermore, it found that ‘high-intensity interval
training (HIIT) has been recognised as an alternative
and more efficient protocol than moderate-intensity
continuous training (MCT), which is the gold standard
recommended in several guidelines.’
Great news for those of us who wish to improve our
fitness, without having to leave the house. But here’s a
tip – if you want to make your HIIT work harder, without
making your workout more difficult … just add water.

HIIT + H20 IS THE
WAY TO GO
Poolfit is the world’s first on-demand
water fitness streaming app that focuses
on full body cardio fitness, strength and
conditioning in the pool, for all ages and
levels of fitness. Poolfit’s instructor-led water
workouts feature over 115 professionally
created, in-water workouts, comparable to
traditional land-based workouts. There are
plenty of lower intensity workouts to choose
from, but the high intensity routines will be
welcomed by all. The buoyancy of the water
offers support and reduces impact on the
body (just remember to always go at your
own pace).
Don’t have a pool? Just take your device
down to your local pool and work out there.
WHY WATER?
‘If you are working out in the pool at chest
level, you are only bearing 25 to 35 percent
of your entire body weight, which is ideal for
longevity, health and overall fitness moving
through all ages and stages of life,’ says
PoolFit founder Mark Grevelding.
By working out in the water, you
automatically amplify the benefits of
your HIIT routine. ‘This is because water
workouts, particularly high intensity routines,
have countless positive health benefits.
Think weight loss, cardiovascular health, core
strength, bone density, muscular endurance
and strength, flexibility, balance and so
much more,’ explains Mark. ‘All of these are
achieved in the low-impact environment
of water, where uplifting buoyant forces
limit stress on joints, while at the same time
improve resistance via the water’s viscosity.’
BETTER CALORIE BURN
Studies have also shown that water workouts
use an average of 400-600 calories in a
60-minute routine. Bonus – they continue to
metabolise calories for up to 24 hours after
you’ve actually exercised. A 1993 Baretta
Deep Water Study proved that an average
of 9.8 calories were burned per minute when
working out in deep water, which equals
around the same consumed in a 10-minute
power walk.
LOWER YOUR CHANCE OF
INJURIES
As much as we love a high impact, high intensity
exercise routine, it doesn’t come without the risk
of injury... unless you’re in the water, that is. Mark
drew on this when creating the Poolfit water
exercise app. ‘If you have stopped your regular
jogging routine or other workouts because of
injury, there’s good news,’ he says. ‘You can run
and be athletic again. Water workouts help you
safely achieve your health and fitness goals.’
The water’s viscosity provides total body
resistance from all angles, making it the ideal
exercise equipment. ‘All movements are resisted
in water, which means muscles on every side of
the joint are targeted. This improves muscular
balance and can reduce chronic pain, while
decreasing the risk of injury.’
HIIT IN WATER CAN HELP
WARD OFF EXERCISE
PLATEAUS
You know the drill. You’ve been following a
healthy eating plan and exercising regularly
for weeks and the results show it. Then, all of
a sudden, you plateau. Your fitness doesn’t
seem to be elevating and the scales are staying
put. ‘By taking your HIIT to the pool, you can
exercise with all-out intensity, in the joint-friendly
environment that water affords, thus helping
to break these frustrating workout plateaus,’
explains Mark.
MOVE BETTER, FEEL BETTER,
LIVE BETTER
Doing your HIIT workout in water gives you
the freedom to move your limbs in multiple
directions, thereby improving your range of
motion (which translates to being able to
move more efficiently during your day-to-day
activities, too). ‘You can also exercise longer
and with more intensity in the water,’ says Mark.
‘This improves muscular endurance and stamina,
which helps you to move better, feel better and
live better.’ CBM
WATCH
The PoolFit app allows users to download over 115 varied
workouts, take their iPad or iPhone poolside and get
moving in a fun and stay-cool manner. Currently available
in the App Store, Play Store or with a PoolFit subscription,
a monthly subscription fee of US$15.95 is required after
a free trial month, however there is no commitment and
subscribers can cancel at any time. PoolFit founder, Mark
Grevelding, a long-time aquatic fitness training specialist,
wants to dispel the myth that you can’t get a good workout
in the water.
